Jordan's correctional system does not offer the same provisions to women as it does to men. For example, there is a lack of gender-specific health care and services specific to the needs of women. In this report, compiled by the Danish Institute Against Torture, recommends policy changes to better provide for the health needs of female prisoners in Jordan. Based on an observational visit to Jordan's primary correctional facility and interviews with detainees, former detainees, and prison staff, as well as a thorough desk review of current legislation, the Danish Institute Against Torture makes a series of recommendations.
