Accommodating people's growing demands for their inclusion in society;; for respect of their ethnicity;; religion;; and language;; takes more than democracy and equitable growth. Also needed are multicultural policies that recognize differences;; champion diversity and promote cultural freedoms;; so that all people can choose to speak their language;; practice their religion;; and participate in shaping their culture—so that all people can choose to be who they are. In recent years the Human Development Report has argued strongly that this is as much a question of politics as economics—from protecting human rights to deepening democracy. Human development is first and foremost about allowing people to lead the kind of life they choose—and providing them with the tools and opportunities to make those choices. The 2004 Report builds on that analysis;; by carefully examining—and rejecting—claims that cultural differences necessarily lead to social;; economic and political conflict or that inherent cultural rights should supersede political and economic ones. Instead;; it provides a powerful argument for finding ways to “delight in our differences”;; as Archbishop Desmond Tutu has put it. It also offers some concrete ideas on what it means in practice to build and manage the politics of identity and culture in a manner consistent with the bedrock principles of human development.
دراسة بحثية وطنية تهدف غلى المستهمة في جمع بيانات دقيقة عن وضع الفتاة الطفلة وتهدف إلى تحليل الطريقة التي تؤثر فيها الثقافة المجتمعية التي يمارسها المجتمع على صياغة القانون. واستناداً إلى المواضيع التيي والثغرات التي أبرزها أصحاب العلاقة بناءاً على تحليل النتائج ومن خلال إتباع نهج يستند على حقوق الإنسان;; فقد تم تصنيف الدراسة إلى الموضوعات التالية: حقوق المساواة وعدم التمييز;; حقوق الأسرة;; وتعليم الفتاة والطفلة;; والعنف القائم على الجنس ضد الفتاة الطفلة;; وعمالة الفتاة الطفلة;; والصحة والزواج المبكر;; والعادات والتقاليد. والغرض من تحليل النتائج والتوصيات هو في انها ستسهم بفعالية في جهود كسب الدعم باسم الفتاة الطفلة في الأردن. واعتمد البحث على كل من منجية البحث النوعي والكمي;; حيث تم العمل على مراجعة التشريعات الأردنية والأطر الدولية ذات الصلة بحقوق الفتيات والأطفال;; إضافة إلى اجراء مقابلات مع خبراء قانونيين واجتماعيين وشخصيات عامة والمجتمع المحلي في الأردن حول القضايا ذا تالصلة بحقوق الفتيات والأطفال. وقد تم اعداد استبيان من اجل جمع المعلومات المطلوبة وتم تعبئته في كل من عمان والزرقاء وإربد والمفرق والعقبة والكرك. وكما قام فريق البحث بعقد سبع ورشات عمل للفنون على مستوى المملكة في 7 محافظات;; وعقد 4 جلسات مائدة مستديرة في 3 محافظات.
The study aims to evaluate the concepts of water;; energy and solid waste that exists in the curriculum and the manner in which they are tackled by mapping the current textbooks based the three themes of the study – water;; energy and solid waste. The report is based on a comprehensive study of 104 school textbooks from grades 1 – 10 in fourteen subjects. The survey finds that the environmental education concepts were vastly covered in all subjects of he study in a total of 1777 concepts;; and most of them focused on scientific facts and information with repetitive energy concepts and lack of sequential flow. This research was conducted as part of the Public Action for Water;; Energy and Environment Project (PAP);; which aims to encourage water and energy conservation and to support behavior change towards more conservation and efficient practices both at the household level and in the commercial;; industrial and civil society arenas using social marketing behavioral methods. Based on the finding that there is little space allocated to the synthesis and application of information and knowledge and therefore the concepts remain superficially tackled;; the report recommends that support material should be prepared for the different grade levels and training programs should be developed for the teachers as real agent of change and role models.
