The Arab Human Development Reports continue to examine the factors that prevent an Arab renaissance from taking off;; and to search for those that could empower it to advance and progress. In this third installment in the series;; the report focuses on the deficit of freedom and good governance and calls for far-reaching legal and political reforms.

This report presents a compelling argument as to why realising the full potential of Arab women is an indispensable prerequisite for development in all Arab states. It argues persuasively that the long hoped-for Arab “renaissance” cannot and will not be accomplished unless the obstacles preventing women from enjoying their human rights and contributing more fully to development are eliminated and replaced with greater access to the “tools” of development;; including education and healthcare. By placing Arab women firmly in the centre of social;; cultural;; economic and political development in the entire region;; the Report goes beyond arguing that half the population deserves half the participation. In fact;; it asserts that irrespective of the numbers;; Arab women have already accomplished great strides that are transforming the region’s political economy and social demography. While lauding these achievements and making a strong case for facilitating this strong current of positive social transformation;; the Report also analyses the remaining impediments;; and suggests concrete steps towards their elimination.

يأتي هذا التقرير في اطار سلسلة التقارير الدورية التي يصدرها المرصد العمالي الاردني التابع لمركز الفينيق للدراسات الاقتصادية والمعلوماتية. حيث يستعرض هذا التقرير الظروف التي يعمل فيها العاملون في مؤسسة الموانئ من حيث الأجور والعلاوات;; والاسقرار الوظيفي;; ومدى توفر معايير الصحة والسلامة المهنية;; وغيرها من الحقوق العمالية الأساسية. واعتمد التقرير في اعداده على المنهج النوعي;; وذلك عبر اجراء المقابلات الشخصية مع العشرات من العاملين في المؤسسة;; إلى جانب مقابلة غالبية أعضاء اللجنة النقابية فيها;; بالإضافة إلى الزيارات الميدانية. وكما خلص التقرير بمجموعة من التوصيات التي تهدف إلى التخفيف من الانتهاكات التي يتعرض لها العاملون في هذه المؤسسة.

لقد تم إعداد هذا التقرير الخامس حول أوضاع مراكز الإصلاح والتأهيل من اجل تقييم هذه المراكز والنزلاء واماكن التوقيف والموقوفين;; وكما يكشف التقرير عن مواطن الضعف والخلل التي تعاني منها هذه المرافق. وتم الاستناد على منهجية الزيارات الميدانية الفجائية إلى تلك الاماكن;; والالتقاء بالنزلاء والموقوفين;; وكما استند التقرير أيضاً على الالتقاء بنزلاء وموقوفين سابقين وأسر بعض النزلاء الحاليين ونشطاء من المجتمع المدني.

This report was jointly prepared by the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JOHUD);; the Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human development/Regional Economic Empowerment of Women Project (REEWP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The report discusses the right to inheritance and debates a number of issues including the provisions concerning women's rights to inheritance in Islam;; the legal framework of the women's rights to inheritance in Jordan;; the guarantees of these rights and finally the reality of the women's right to inheritance in Jordan. The report concludes with recommendations.

يقدم هذا التقرير المكون من 56 صفحة تفصيلاً حول كيفية قيام المحافظين وغيرهم من المسؤولين بالالتفاف حول أصول المحاكمات الجزائية;; وذلك عند احتجازهم اشخاص بموجب أمر اداري (الاحتجاز الاداري) دون مراجعة قضائية. وكما يبين الممارسات المستخدمة ضد ضحايا الجريمة;; وأعداء الشخصية والأشخاص الذين تم اخلاء سبيلهم من قبل المحاكم.

The report aims to address the particular needs and cultural dynamics of Syrian refugees residing in Jordan;; especially with regards gender-based violence and child protection issues. It presents a comprehensive range of perspectives from urban Syrian refugees and local Jordanian decision makers in government;; community-based organizations and the religious and education sectors. The assessment of this report is based on data collected through three methodologies including questionnaire survey to refugees outside the Za’atari refugee camp;; focus group discussions in regions across Jordan and in-depth interviews. Key findings of the report are 1. The rates of early marriage are high;; 2. A significant percentage of children contribute to the household’s income and 3. Restrictions on women and girls’ mobility constrain their participation in social and economic activities and access to basic services. The report recommends measures to prevent acts of sexual exploitation and abuse and ensure the needs of the most vulnerable members of the Syrian refugee population in the cities.

تهدف الدراسة الى التعرف على مشاركة المرأة في المجالس البلديه في الأردن. باستخدام المنهج النوعي;; ولتحقيق اهداف الدراسة تم سحب عينة قصدية من البلديات بلغت 11 بلدية;; تمت مقابلة 9 رؤساء بلدية و15 امرأة وعقد ٥ مجموعات بؤرية مكونة من عضوات المجالس البلدية ;; و7 مجموعات بؤرية مكونة من موظفي وموظفات المجالس البلدية. وخرجت الدراسه بنتائج أهمها أن المرأة تعتبر غير فاعلة في المجلس البلدي;; وذلك يعود الى عدة اسباب أهمها: تهميش رئيس واعضاء المجلس البلدي لهن;; وعدم معرفتهن بمهام عضو المجلس البلدي;;اضافة إلى التنافس العدائي بينهن. وكما قدمت الدراسة مجموعة من التوصيات موجهة الى الحكومة او منظمات المجتمع المدني والمنظمات الدوليه وذلك لتعظيم دور عضوات المجالس البلدية.
