International Labor: 73% of young people have had their work and studies affected by Corona

Summary

While an international survey prepared by the International Labor Organization indicated that 73% of young people who combined study and work before the 'Corona' pandemic, their work and studies were affected, a position paper issued by the Jordanian Labor Observatory expected that local unemployment rates will rise to approximately 30% among youth, The same age group between 16 and 24 years old, who are not studying.
The international survey based on an opinion poll, the results of which were published, included the opinions of about 12,600 young people, including Jordanians, as 51% of young people believe that their education will be delayed, and 9% fear that their education will be affected, or even fail.
The results of the survey said that the epidemic inflicted heavy losses on young workers, destroyed their jobs and undermined their career prospects, as one in 6 of them, 17%, worked before the outbreak of the disease, and stopped working completely after it, especially the younger workers, between the ages of 18 and 24. General, and those who work in clerical support, services, sales, handicrafts, and related occupations.
Working hours among young workers decreased to about a quarter (an average of two hours per day), and two out of 5 people (42%) reported a decrease in their income.
