As part of the project "<a href="http://irckhf.org/en/project/mathlouma-removing-honor-crimes-honor-2009… Removing Honor from Crimes of Honor</a>", a project funded by the European Instrument for Human Rights (EIDHR) at the <a href="http://irckhf.org/en/organization/european-commission-ec">European Commission</a>, a video explaining the contexts and the causes of honor crimes or honour crimes. The views of economist Dr. Yousef Mansour and sociologist Dr. Musa Shteiwi attempt to interpret the drive to commit the specific nature of crimes against women widespread in Jordan. Honor Crimes are considered to be common forms of violence against women or gender-based violence (GBV) in Jordan. Dr Yousef Mansour, a well-known economist, suggests a strong correlation between honor crimes and poverty. While the social expert Dr. Musa Shteiwi considered social pressure as the primary reason in committing honor crimes. Dr. Shteiwi presumes that the societal pressure on the family may be "greater than the pressure the family can face" and hence result in murder of the woman.
