Jordan Case Study: Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in Public Administration

Jordan Case Study: Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in Public Administration PDF file screenshot
Summary

This UNDP case study examines the struggles Jordanian women face when working in the public sector. Though women now make up half of the civil service sector in Jordan, the leadership positions in the civil service are still overwhelmingly occupied by men,and many women still face gender-specific obstacles in the workplace. The information for this report comes primarily from a report written by the Jordanian National Commission for Women, which showed that women's work is still not perceived to be of the same quality as men's work, and that women still experience discrimination in the workplace.
