This English to Arabic dictionary is a comprehensive attempt to translate all terms often used in social work from English into their Arabic counterparts. This ebook seeks to address the growing impact of the social work profession in many countries and regions. The discipline is clearly in the middle of a significant period of internationalization and for those countries in the Global South,where social work is still a nascent profession,this internationalization provides opportunities for judicious professionalization. This ebook aims to have a role in the professionalization of social work in the Arab countries by providing Arabic speaking individuals access to English terms and by extension international practices within the social work profession. The social work described and discussed in this book is strongly aligned to British practice,however there is a nod to international social work language usage in the later chapters. The English chosen remains largely British,supplemented here with international terminology for the newer chapters. The book is divided into six parts: Practice Fields,Methods,Theories concepts and context,International social work,English for the social care workplace,School and University. Each part contains not only the relevant translations of key terms and phrases but also introductory texts in which these terms are used. These texts provide written context to the usage of these terms. This work is presented as an initial,tentative attempt to capture language usage in two regions,one of these a notably enormous and disparate collection of countries. As such it is acknowledged that there may be omissions or small errors,as with any first edition.
