Relating to the Universal Periodic Review mechanism, all 193 Members of the United
Nations were reviewed twice during the first and second cycles in the periods 2008-2011
and 2012-2016 waiting for the end of the third session at the end of the current year (2022).
The indicated allows us to conduct a preliminary evaluation of the impact of this mechanism
on raising the level of states, fulfillment of their pledges and commitments in the field of
human rights protection, which we have tried to find in this study based on the various
statistics and documents provided by the United Nations. Finally, we came to the conclusion
that the Universal Periodic Review constitutes an integrated system to raise the level of
compliance by states with their pledges and commitments in the sphere of human rights
protection. However, in actuality, both sessions showed flaws that affected the attainment of
the mechanism's goals.
