The First Periodic Report on the Situation of Reform and Rehabilitation Centers in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan During the Period from January 1,2013 - June 30,2014
This report,prepared by Karama,which working under the umbrella of the National Center for Human Rights,aims to preventing torture and monitoring violations in Jordanian prisons,in addition to improving the conditions of persons deprived of their freedom in Jordan,and to be the nucleus of the national preventive mechanism in case of Jordan’s ratification of optional protocol to the Convention against torture and other ill-treatment for the year 22. In this report,"Karama" team aimed to monitor the situation of persons deprived of their liberty in all civil reform and rehabilitation centers which are 15 centers across observational regular monthly visits,the number of visits reached to 59 visit. This report provides an assessment of the situation in the reform and rehabilitation centers,the most important problems facing the prisoners,living conditions for prisoners,administrations existing in reform and rehabilitation centers,and also includes the observations on some importance issues,the most important positive and negative developments during the period covered by the report,and report concluded with a set of recommendations to improve the situation.
