This report aims to describe the current situation of women in Jordan, where they are still highly underrepresented in both local and central government and where the issue of violence against women is still a major concern. The report talks about past and current government policies on gender as well as the various national entities that promote women’s issues in Jordan. It also describes the situation of women/gender in education, health, agriculture, economic activities, and domestic labour. The information presented in this report was collected through various on-site sources, and this information sheds light on the stereotypes, discrimination, and typecasting that women experience within Jordanian society. This report also describes the legislative changes and the objectives that have been put into place regarding women's rights.
