A Jordanian woman cannot pass her nationality to her non Jordanian husband or their children and as a result Jordanian women married to non-Jordanians face multiple forms of exclusion and discrimination. This policy brief gives an overview of the social, economic and psychological harships faced by these families and the consequences of denying them citizenship. It also presents the right of women to pass on their nationality to their family members in international law and the contraditions present in the Jordanian legislation. Finally the paper puts forth recommendations to the Parliament and the Executive Branch and includes a section on frequently asked questions.
